The continued violence in South Sudan that started in December of has displaced thousands of families. Houses have been looted, markets destroyed, and farms left abandoned; putting nearly 4 million people at risk of critical food shortages.
There are widespread reports of shocking violations of human rights with the effects of war on children particularly devastating. Over the past two months, girls and boys have been killed, maimed, raped, orphaned, recruited into armed groups, and made homeless.
As South Sudan’s leaders continue to negotiate a peace settlement the situation for millions of people lies in the balance.
