AFGHANISTAN - HELMAND
US Marines and Afghan Civilians
A US marine takes the blood pressure of an Afghan woman that has been brought to the Marines health post by her husband at the Forward Operating Base in Mian Poshteh, Helmand, Afghanistan on the 27th March, 2010. Mian Poshteh was an extremely hostile region of Helmand province , being a major trading centre for opium and weapons that supplied the Taliban. 2/2 of the US Marines arrived in the area in October 2009 and have succeded in bringing a degree of security and economic stability to the region despite extreme opposition by insurgent forces.
