Dadaab Refugee Camp, Kenya

The largest refugee settlement in the world, Dadaab is home to 250,000 refugees who have fled fighting in Somalia. It is estimated that over 15,000 people are arriving every month and conditions are deteriorating as pressure on resources grows. This woman holds her disabled son, who is suffering from malnutrition having fled renewed fighting in Mogadishu last month.

Greetings Ms. Holt.

I am the chairman of Somali American Community Association, a nonprofit, 501 C (3)organization, in Washington, DC area. We have recently started Save Somalia: Humanitarian and Refugee Awareness Campaign to educate the American public, US Congress, and faith-based groups, to mention a few.

I would like to know if we can use some of the pictures you took in Dadaab and other places to show the plight of Somalis. This is the early stage of the campaign and have developed a few templates to Congress and the meida, text and email alert system, student clubs, and so on.

This is a non-commercial use and only for public education. If you have other suggestions, please share them with me. I can be reached at chairman@sacausa.org. Please visit our website, www.sacausa.org.

P.S. For some reason the system would not let me pick name and URL and therefore I have selected anonymous.

Sincerely,

Ahmed Elmi, MPH
Chairman
Somali American Community Association
